What we collect
- Your name and mobile number, so a volunteer can reach you.
- The location you give us, and how accurate it was.
- Any photos you upload. These are shrunk and stripped of camera metadata on your phone before they reach us.
- Your IP address and browser user agent at the moment you accept the waiver, because that acceptance is a legal record.
Who sees what
- Your phone number is never shown publicly. It is released to one person: the volunteer who accepts your request.
- Your exact location is never shown publicly. The public board shows a pin moved about a mile off.
- Volunteers who were notified but did not take the job never see your name, number or exact location.
- Administrators can see everything, because somebody has to be able to sort out a job that goes wrong.
How long we keep it
- REVIEW WITH LAWYER: set a retention period here.
Who we share it with
- Twilio, to send the text messages.
- Supabase, which hosts the database and the photos.
- Mapbox, which draws the map. Mapbox receives map tile requests from your browser.
- Nobody else. We do not sell anything, and we do not hand lists of stranded drivers to towing companies.
